Earning the Fight - Storytelling through Action Performance - With Tom Jordan
Wednesdays: 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th November and 4th December from 6.30 - 9.30pm.
About The Course:
In this five week Stage Combat course we'll exploring theatrical violence as an integral part of the storytelling process. As well as working on our practical fight skills through the learning of choreographed sequences, we'll be diving into the idea of violence as language, and developing the use of breath, tension, urgency, and muscularity as key skills for the fight performer to master in their quest to effectively portray violence on stage.
About Tom Jordan:
Tom Jordan is a professional Fight Director and Stage Combat Instructor with over 20 years’ experience. He has choreographed fights for a plethora of productions across the UK, for companies including The Royal Shakespeare Company, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, The Egg and The Handlebards.
He is an RSC Associate Practitioner and has worked for over a decade on a variety of learning programmes and theatre productions for the RSC.
Tom has taught at LAMDA, The Institute of Contemporary Theatre, amongst others, and is Head of Action at Rebel Action in Swindon. Tom teaches at various Universities across the UK, as well as running courses and workshops all over the country. He also works as a writer, director and (occasionally) a performer.
