Improvisation and Devising with Peta Maurice
Wednesdays 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th January and 5th February 2025
About the Course:
In this 5-week course you'll learn how to let go of all inhibitions and improvise with confidence!
You will look at how to make offers, raise the stakes, create imaginary worlds around you and learn the art of giving performance gifts to your fellow performers. On the course we will explore short-form exercises as well as how to keep multiple storylines alive for a longer duration of time.
We will also look at how to use improvisation in audition environments and explore comedy versus naturalistic improvised dialogue.
About Peta Maurice:
Peta is a Bristol based Performer, Director and Coach. As a comedy improviser, Peta is a current cast member of Degrees of Error’s ‘Murder, She Didn’t Write’- the improvised murder mystery, a recent member of Closer Each Day - the improvised soap opera and a member of Instant Wit - a short-form improvisation comedy group.
Some of her recent theatre credits include: The Good, The Bad and The Coyote Ugly (The Wardrobe Theatre), The Passion of Living Spit (Tour), Five Children and It (The Egg Theatre 2021), Sherlock in Holmes (Sharp Teeth Theatre), Rapunzel (The Egg, Bath), The Borrowers (Tobacco Factory) and, most importantly (in her eyes) is the UK Voice of Baby Shark. Jawsome!
